Different social media channels have different uses, strengths, and advantages. X (formerly Twitter) is more NSFW-friendly than other social media channels, and when used strategically, can help you grow many followers and convert into sales.
If you’re not already on X, go to https://x.com and sign up for a free account. Use your model or brand name for your @ account handle. If you'd like ideas on who to follow, you can take a look at who we follow on our X account: https://x.com/mymember_site. We primarily follow MMS creators and industry media and influencers.
Posting often not only helps you to stay active on newsfeeds but improves your ranking in online searches. X has the most fast-paced algorithm and posts are difficult to be seen, so more the merrier. Be sure to use keyword-rich phrases in your posts as often as possible. If you can't get your desired name as your @ account handle then make sure to include it in your account name and bio. This will help with SEO.
In the content creation world, creating and nurturing one on one relationships with your fans can be a difficult but highly profitable and satisfying experience. Social media is about having a dialogue. With that being said, respond to posts and comments talking about you and your brand. Start and join conversations. Be authentic, genuine and real! When you have a dialogue with a fan or fellow model or brand/company, you can convert conversations into actions. Maintain an active online presence. This way, increasingly more people will find out about your business and you’ll attract more followers. Also, keeping your fans up to date on what's happening with your business will keep your brand top-of-mind!
X tips:
Share your member site link: This may seem like a no-brainer, but we see many creators who forget to link to their member site. Add your member site link to your profile bio, and if using a link hub such as linktr.ee, put your member site link at the top of the link list and make it stand out from your other platforms links by labeling it as "VIP Member Site" or "My Official Website", or "Exclusive Content - Join my site". Pro tip: some link hubs allow you to upload a brand logo or image to help your link stand out more.
Post often, but don’t spam: Your feed can be as intimate or as frequent as you choose. If your goal is to gather lots of followers, be sure to keep your posts interesting, personal and entertaining! Post a link to something you saw online that you like with a one-line comment or mention an interesting thought you had, or tell everyone what you are cooking for dinner or activities you're doing or did that day. Not every post should be about selling content or getting fans to buy or pay for something.
Simple rule of thumb: for every post that you promote your content/services, 4 posts should not be promotional. People WILL unfollow if your feed is just a repetitive sales stream.Follow others: Don’t underestimate the importance of following others. And if your profile and feed are high quality and relevant to who you followed, they will likely follow you back. Pro tip: follow creators who you think are inspiring or motivational, or who you can learn from to help build your brand and grow followers.
Repost: A simple repost can be a very effective way of attracting new followers and engaging with current followers. Pro tip: write your own opinion or a fun or humorous phrase when you repost. Don't just repost mindlessly, add a personal touch for why you're reposting.
Keep your account public: A private account simply won't grow and is not an effective promotional tool.
Leverage automation (sensibly): your member site has built-in auto-posts for your X account. Turn these on, and we highly recommend customizing the post content so they don't sound like our templated robotic text and you can add your own brand voice which is very important so your account doesn't sound boring or that you don't care about follower engagement.
Be generous with the mentions & engage with your followers: Thank people when they tag you, share their content as a reciprocal gesture, and genuinely have conversations with them. Followers are more likely to join your member site or buy something after a simple gesture of recognizing and appreciating them. When they know you're a real person and then can really interact with you, they are much more likely to stay loyal.
Use hashtags (sensibly): Hashtags are a tool to make your posts more searchable. But, they need to be used minimally and strategically, such as SEO-friendly keywords related to your content and brand. Don't use more than 2 or 3 hashtags per post and use different hashtags for posts. Too many and repetitive hashtags is considered "spam" by the algorithm. And be mindful of hashtags that mention "sex" or NSFW words, because the X channel still shadowbans NSFW accounts.
Post high-res photos/videos: posting blurry/pixelated visuals looks bad for your brand. Here's an online guide for what each social media channel requires for photo and video sizes.
Use watermarks: here is our watermark guide for images, and although your member site has a built-in watermark tool for videos published on your site, you'll need to separately watermark videos that you want to share on social media.
