If you want to limit the availability of a given store item (either physical OR digital), use the Availability automation feature. Inside the store item, toggle the feature ON:
The following options become available:
Number available
Set a total number of items that you want to make available to customers. The availability will count down automatically with each successful sale. You have the options to show or hide the availability to visitors and receive an email when out of stock.
Sold our behavior
Pick one of two behaviors for when the item is no longer available:
Unpublish item
This will hide the item from your store.
Show a label
This will keep the item in your store, but will show a customizable label, e.g. "Sold out". This option includes the option to include a comment that will show to customers.
What will site visitors see?
Visitors will see an out-of-stock message.
