Domain privacy FAQs

Protect your online identity with domain privacy. Safeguard personal info and meet payment processor requirements.

What is domain privacy?

Domain privacy is a service offered by registrars where they replace the publicly available contact information with their own. This prevents the public from seeing your contact information. Contact information for a domain name can be viewed here: whois.com/whois/

Do I need domain privacy?

We require you to have domain privacy turned on as a requirement for the payment processor approval process. It is also important to keep your information private. Without privacy enabled, anyone can view the personal information associated with your domain.

We also recommend entering random information into the domain contact details just to be on the safe side. This way, if something happens to the domain privacy, or your domain expires, your personal information is not leaked. Please note that although you can enter bogus contact information, you must enter a valid email address so you can receive notifications for things like renewal notices.

Be sure privacy is set to auto-renew.

If you are having difficulty applying domain privacy to your domain (can occur with some country-specific domain extensions like .co.uk), let us know.

How do I turn on domain privacy?

Here are instructions for namecheap.com (our recommended registrar) - they call this service "WhoisGuard".

1. Sign into your Namecheap account.

2. Select Domain List from the left sidebar and click the Manage button next to your domain:

Explore adult payment processors, create and sell adult content, maximize earnings from adult content with e-commerce solutions. Licensing and rights for adult content, porn servers, selling adult content, clips for sale, make money with an adult website. Webcam modeling, cam models, fan club websites, upload and stream adult content. Discover how much cam girls make and explore opportunities to sell and make money from adult content.

3. Click the Protection toggle next to WhoisGuard to enable it:

Discover the importance of domain privacy. Follow our guide to activate WhoisGuard on Namecheap, securing your personal information for a safer online experience.

If you don't have a WhoisGuard subscription associated with your domain yet, visit the WhoisGuard product page to purchase it.

Enter bogus information

If your privacy is important to you, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND using your public alias in place of your real name, and enter random address information in the address fields. Even if you purchase privacy, some country-specific domain names like .co.uk WILL STILL PUBLICLY REVEAL THE INFORMATION IN THE NAME FIELD.Β

There have also been cases of whois data being revealed publicly leaked.
