In addition to streaming from your browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.), you can use third party software to stream to your site. Here are some options:

Using streaming software like OBS, Stream Yard

Streaming software applications like OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) are popular options for those looking to add some professional touches to their livestreams. Software like this will allow you to cut between multiple cameras, insert screen overlays and add other effects. You can even install plugins!

Using a phone instead of your webcam

You can take advantage of the high-quality phone that your phone comes with. You can connect your phone directly to OBS, you can connect your iPhone to your MacBook and use it as a high-quality webcam, or you can use an encoding app and send the feed directly to our server.

Using a DSLR camera with an encoder

Using a good DSLR with good lighting would give you the best quality stream. You'll want to ensure the DSLR has auto focus (so you can move and stay in focus).

Encoder

You'll need a device called an "encoder" which will take the video feed and upload it to our system. We recommend the "Teradek Vidiu X".

Things to note/tips

  • Use a wired connection
If and when possible use a wired connection rather than WIFI. This will ensure the best possible connection speed.

  • 2-4 second delay
When using a source other than your browser/webcam you will see a delay of a few seconds on your stream. This can be a little off-putting, but is perfectly normal.

  • Use a great external microphone and lighting
