Lithuania age verification requirements for adult websites
Updated over 3 weeks ago

Lithuania has adopted the rules from Article 28b (1) of the European Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD) into its national law through the Law on the Provision of Information to the Public (updated May 12, 2022).

As a result, the Radio and TV Commission of Lithuania (RTCL) has created guidelines for video-sharing platforms to help protect minors from harmful content.

According to these guidelines, service providers must follow the protective measures outlined in both the Law on the Provision of Information to the Public and the Law on the Protection of Minors from the Negative Effects of Public Information.

Key requirements:

  • Mandatory age verification: Adult websites must implement systems to verify that users are at least 18 years old.

  • Biometric methods: Utilizing biometric facial age estimation to confirm users' ages.

  • Data protection compliance: Ensuring that any age verification processes adhere to data protection regulations, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

How mymember.site complies with Lithuania's regulations

We comply with Lithuania's regulations by using biometric facial age estimation to verify the age of users accessing adult sites on our network. This method is fully compliant with GDPR and ensures that the verification process is secure, reliable, and user-friendly.

Benefits of our biometric facial age estimation:

  • Ease of use: Our age estimation feature analyzes a user's face via webcam or smartphone camera to estimate age quickly and accurately.

  • Data minimization: No facial images or personal data are stored after verification, ensuring complete privacy.

  • Automatic GDPR compliance: The process adheres to data protection laws to safeguard user information.

  • Speed: Users can complete the verification in seconds without needing to upload sensitive documents.
